Summary of case: In his appeal to the local tribunal Scott states that he is doing work of national importance in the munitions industry while wife runs the shop. The local tribunal granted conditional exemption as long as he remained in the same occupation and his domestic position remains the same. The national service representative appealed this decision stating that ‘he is proprietor of a drug store and left it some time since in charge of his wife to go to munitions. He has been made spare by the Minister of Munition, and his work there ought not now to be taken into account. Apart from that work he ought to join up.’
