Summary of case: The local tribunal refused the appeal as it was not in the national interest that this grade 1 man should be in a pawnbrokers shop. ‘His employer, Kendra who is a Grade 3 man has gone to work as a fitter’s labourer at Warrenby works. He pretends he cannot leave this work though he is only a labourer. The employer brought up as a pawnbroker and is qualified to carry on this business. The personal claim was also refused as it was not considered strong enough.’ Jones appealed this decision stating that he has a delicate wife, five sons, two of whom are under five. Two older sons are in the Army, one wounded in hospital in London. He is also a volunteer Special Constable.
