Summary of case: Local tribunal had granted conditional exemption whilst working for the motor life boat. Review made national service representative and was adjourned for medical examination and exemption was withdrawn. Baker appealed this decision on the grounds that This motor life boat has been built at a cost of £4,500 with the sanction of the Minister of Munitions, and his certificate obtained. The boat has only been on the station for 5 months and has rescued 29 people during this period
.The Senior naval Officer, tees, has recently written to the chairman of the Redcar Tribunal that the services of the man in question should be retained in view of the importance if the work upon which he is engaged
.It is urgent in the interests of the navy and the Mercantile marine that this motor lifeboat station be kept in a state of thorough efficiency.
