Summary of case: Previous application on 4 Jul 1917 resulted in a conditional exemption. He works on his father's farm, 103 acres, half grass and half arable with a lot of livestock. He does the ploughing, sowing and heavy work. His father is over 70 and outlines his own war experience. Four sons have been in the army, one killed and one wounded and gassed, another wounded in the Artillery and the fourth serving in France. Decision stated that he did not need to join the Volunteer Training Corps. Rutherford has a certificate from the War Agriculture Executive Committee which allows him the right to appeal against his conscription, number 922
