The only other labourer on the farm is a lad of 15 years and there is no-one else who can work the engine. John Reed also has a medical certificate stating he is unable to do any manual work. Robert Reed has a certificate from the War Agriculture Executive Committee which allows him the right to appeal against his conscription, number 688.
