Summary of case: Edward Dawson and his sister are tenants of Braithwaite’s Hall farm. There are 279 acres in pasture, 100 meadow, 24.5 arable and 320 acres moorland. There are 23 milking cows, 25 store cattle, 450 breeding ewes and about 450 lambs and four working horses. Before the war I had three men and casual labourers but now I only have two men and they have to go I shall be unable to carry on the farm. Dawson has a certificate from the War Agriculture Executive Committee which allows him the right to appeal against his conscription, number 1244a
