Summary of case: Levitt appeals against the decision of the local tribunal who did not grant him a conditional exemption on the grounds of serious financial hardship and business and domestic obligations. In the reasons for this decision the local tribunal state that there are mortgages amounting to £6000 on the premises and the outgoings are considerable. His father who attended to the business before is in weak health. When however the government find it necessary to take powers to call up men of 50 there remains no good reason for exemption for a single man like appellant.
