Summary of case: Appellant states it is not in the national interest that this man remains in his current occupation as his wife could easily run the business, releasing him for the army. In his previous appeal to the local tribunal, Foster states that he has been doing Red Cross work and given up his Easter holiday to work in the military hospital in York and that he is actually suffering from appendicitis and awaiting an operation. The local tribunal granted him temporary exemption until 8 October 1918 on the grounds of hardship. The national service representative appealed against this decision.
