Summary of case: Sydney operates the two engines which deploy water, and if he was to leave there would be no supply of water. He also acts as the Estate Foreman, and he is the only able man of military age who can do this as the other able man was called up in 1917. If he was to leave then the business would be left up to two women. He had previously been exempt from duty till the 31 March 1918. [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/4274]
