Summary of case: Harrison has been in an established business as a hairdresser and tobacconist for 8 years. He was given one month’s exemption by the Redcar tribunal in March 1916 and closed his saloon but continued private outdoor work. On 7 April 1916 Richmond Medical Board rejected him as unfit. He carried on building up his tobacconist business. He is not a well man having gastric catarrh and is constantly under medical care. He can only control his condition with a rigorous diet. ‘I was medically classified RR by the central medical board in Leeds in September last [1917]’. [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/3806]
