Summary of case: Craig appealed on the grounds “that the postponement given by the local tribunal viz until 23 Nov was unreasonable. This man will be 19 in June when he should join the army. The employer was unable to give the date on which the apprenticeship ceased.” Dickenson had been apprenticed when he was 14, but did not have an indenture to prove this. Therefore, there is no valid reason why the youth should not join the army when he attains his nineteenth birthday.”
