Summary of case: Employed by father as a mechanic repairing sewing machines and other items for hospitals, other organisations etc. Father had employed 6 men prior to the war. Only the two sons were left and Henry is the only mechanic and would be impossible to replace. Local tribunal felt the other brother could be better spared. National Service Representative appeals against the exemption granted by the local tribunal stating: ‘This man is an A man, and the trade in which he is engaged is unessential. He is only 32 years of age.’
