Summary of case: Petition submitted by the Local Food Control Committee: Dear Sirs, We the undersigned, do hereby protest against the Military Authorities Appeal for Mr Harry Newbald. Butcher Parliament Road, as we think it very unjust to take a Butcher whose sole desire is to supply about 370 families, about 1000 persons with meat, the majority of whom are engaged on munitions. It is necessary that they be supplied with meat. We have always found Mr Newbald honest conscientious and just in all his dealings, served his allowance out very favourable to one and all. We therefore cannot expect the same treatment at the hands of strangers who we have never patronised; we think we have a just appeal against Mr Newbald having to join the army as so many single men walking the streets who are doing nothing for their country. Petition signed by approximately 100 people :
