Summary of case: This is a married man with a wife and three children. He was originally rejected and is now reclassified as Grade 2. He is an insurance agent for the Prudential who originally had six men and an Assistant Superintendent. Ride is now the only one left. He had been granted a temporary exemption to 1 May 1918. The National Service representative is appealing against this decision stating that ‘the category in which this man is graded and the urgent need for men no substantial national interest is shown to warrant this man being indefinitely exempted from service.’
