Summary of case: The North Riding Appeal Tribunal granted conditional exemption this was reviewed in September 1917 and they confirmed their previous decision in January 1918. The National Service Representative appealed against this decision. The Governors of the school state that ‘It would be highly injurious in the interests of the school if the man was taken away.’ The appeal Tribunal considered, notwithstanding the man’s classification, that a sufficient case had not been made by the National Service representative to justify them reversing their decision. They therefore send the case for adjudication to the Central Tribunal.
