Summary of case: His first application for exemption was on 26 May 1916. This was adjourned for medical examination. He was then declared rejected as unfit, Grade 3. He offered to go into munition work and on 3 Jan 1918 was granted 3 months to arrange his business affairs. The military representative states that the business can be run by other members of the family. The military representative now appeals stating: ‘It is not in the national interest that he should be retained in his present occupation. The business is not essential and if it was could be well carry on by his parents and his sister who did who did carry it on until recently and who at present reside on the premises. There is only one child and no question of domestic hardship.’
