Summary of case: ‘I was 40 years of age on the 5 Nov last and have a wife and 5 young children. I am a butcher at Middleham which business I started over 12 years ago. I kill 1 beats, 6 sheep and 3 pigs weekly. I have also 10 acres of land. I am now the only butcher in Middleham and do a large county round and do all my own buying and slaughtering and have no assistance except my wife who helps in the shop as much as possible. The business is a single handed one, and submit one of importance to the district. I am a member of the Volunteer Training Corps. [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/4272]
