Summary of case: In his previous appeal to the local tribunal, Brown states that the work of the appellant is of national importance, consisting of delivering paraffin to government tractors agents at Thirsk and Northallerton, to dealers in villages where no gas or electric light and also to farmers for agricultural purposes. If the appellant is called up it will mean the closing down of the Thirsk depot where there used to be 3 men employed there is now only one man and one horse. The appellant has had Rheumatic Fever 3 times and suffers with swollen feet. The National Service Representative appeals against the exemption stating; ‘That the Cert. of Temp. Exemption until My 1 1918 be made Final as it is no longer necessary in the National interests that this man should remain in civil employment.’
