Summary of Case: He is the chief tenant of the farm (joint tenancy) with an invalid father and sister and two other sisters as dependents. One of his brothers is prepared to take his place but this brother also feels that he has a right to continue the running the farm. He states that ‘two cannot work this farm and I consider as farmers with dependents and responsibilities we should be entitled to more consideration’. He asked for one month’s exemption to get ‘seed time over and potatoes planted’. The local tribunal stated that ‘one of the brothers should serve’.
