Summary of case: ‘I do work of national importance. I am sole tenant and Master. I have 216 cattle on the place 12 of which are milk cows, I retail the milk twice a day in town to the Red X Hospital and other customers and I have 15 breeding ewes and 6 pigs all of which I look after myself and the military man told me at the local [tribunal] that I was only employed 3½ hours a day, I thought it was impossible to milk 12 cows twice a day and retail the milk twice a day in town in such a time, as well as the attention they require.’ This case was withdrawn before getting to appeal as an exemption had been granted through War Agricultural Committee.
