Summary of case: On 27 June 1917 Walton had been granted conditional exemption conditional on his remaining in his current occupation and attending Volunteer training Corps drills. He claims that as he is working the farm with the help of only an inexperienced boy of 14, he cannot attend the drills and asks for the condition to be removed. The local tribunal had allowed him to delay joining the Volunteer Training Corps until Sept 1917, but he apparently made no attempt to attend, although he was only half a mile from the drill centre.
