Summary of case: Local tribunal decided 2 May 1917, allowed temporary exemption for 6 months, conditional on Addison attending drills with the Volunteer Training Corps. His employer now appeals for the removal of the condition, as he says Addison cannot get the 3 miles to the drills during the winter when he and his employer are fully occupied on 2 farms. On 14 Nov 1917 the local tribunal refused to alter the condition, on the grounds that one of the men could attend the drills without difficulty, and that John Addison being the younger and employed rather than tenant, he is more likely to be called up later, so a course of training would 'put him in the way of efficiency if the need arose for his calling up'.
