Summary of Case: A repairer of army boots for the North Riding Territorial Force, he is the only child left at home and supports his elderly parents who could not manage on their pension. The appeal was supported by The North Riding Territorial Force Association stating that he was needed to repair boots some of which were for men about to proceed to the units in France and his going would ‘seriously affect the duty imposed on the Association by the War Office ‘. Having been medically examined at Richmond he was passed for Garrison duty ,his employer regarded that he was doing more useful work repairing boots for the North Riding Territorial Force Association, so appealed for an extension so that a replacement could be found and his important work continued.
