Summary of Case: William states that he is joint tenant with his father on a mixed farm. Both parents are elderly, father is 74 and mother 68 and can’t manage the farm ion their own. he solely works the farm. His elder brother, 43, is married with a baby and works on the roads and ‘absolutely refuses to give up present employment’. William couldn’t pay him to work the farm in his place. if he was called up it could mean ‘giving up of the farm’. The tribunal allowed him 6 weeks temporary exemption to enable him to arrange for his married brother to take his place on the farm.
