Summary of case: Mr Pinto is a traveller and general dealer who is married with two children and claims serious financial hardship. His appeal was dismissed and was given until 1 Jan 1918 to join up. His solicitor wrote then to the local tribunal stating that his client feels that he has not received similar treatment to that meted out to other Russian Jews in the same trade as himself. The North Riding Appeal Tribunal states that the case has been considered against other similar cases and found that his outstanding debts and liabilities are very small. On 24 Jan 1918 the North Riding Appeal Tribunal received a letter from Mr Pinto informing them that he had had the misfortune to have been in a railway accident and was suffering from concussion of the brain and paralysis of the legs.
