Summary of case: In July 1917 Sanderson was granted exemption to 1 Oct 1917 conditional on remaining in present occupation leading timber for mines. This case is a reapplication to continue his exemption. He leads timber to three mines for pit props - Lumpsey, Kilton, and Carlin How. It is a one man business having four horses, two carts and two rolleys. Supporting letter from Lumpsey Mines says that he is employed hauling timber and there ‘appears to be every prospect of his being required so long as the war lasts, as the output of ironstone which is so necessary for the manufacture of munitions is now dependent entirely upon our local supplies of timber.’ [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/3816, NRCC/CL 9/1/4936, NRCC/CL 9/1/5769]
