He worked at the Tar McAdam works. The local tribunal dismissed his appeal. They stated in their evidence to the North Riding Appeal Tribunal that he was 20, single and should join the colours. His mother would be entitled to separation allowance. The appellant added to his case that his mother was in very poor health and unable to work on account of an affected heart.
