Summary of case: on 4 Oct 1917 the military representative, Henry Tolson, applied to York City local tribunal for a review of Bogg’s certificate on the grounds that the Central Tribunal referred the case of JJJB Page back to the North Riding Appeal tribunal for rehearing. ‘It is desirable that this man's case should be reheard as it has already been agreed that one of the two men be taken for the Army.’ The local tribunal refused the application for review 16 Oct 1917 stating the exemption should stand. The military representative Allan Boothroyd appeals that decision. The local tribunal stated in their reasons for their decision that’ the man's certificate should stand as he is a man of 39, married with 2 children, a seed expert and of considerable experience, having attended markets for 7 years. So trusted is he by the firm that there is no limitation on his power of buying. The tribunal believed the firm should retain his services, especially if Mr Page junior is taken for the army.’ [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/3886]
