Summary of case: The local appeal tribunal’s reasons for their decision are that “The father 62 applies in respect of his son aged 35 who assists him on the …Wife is 62 and daughter 30 renders assistance in milking etc. No other help engaged at the present time…Application is made on grounds that man engaged in a certified occupation- that of stockman. The man might be spared from civil employment after lambing time and allowed temporary exemption for 1 day which with the 2 months allowed by the Act would answer the purpose”. His father appealed to the North Riding appeal tribunal giving the same reasons, and adding. I am 62 years old and I have only my son to assist me, and the land is in a scattered position”.
