Summary of case: Casper was a Medical Glass Blower in a certified occupation. On 4 April 1916 he was under the age of 25 so he was not eligible to be in a certified occupation, since that date he turned 25 and was now eligible to be in a certified occupation. The North Riding Appeal Tribunal thought the company could manage without him. At the request of the Yorkshire Flint Glass Bottle Manufactures' Association, the case was referred to the Central Tribunal, and on 9 Nov 1917 a conditional certificate of exemption was issued as long as Casper remained in his current occupation.
