Summary of case: On 19 April 1917 Wilkinson was allowed exemption to 31 July 1917. The military representative appealed against this decision on 25 May but this was dismissed. Wilkinson makes clog blocks, 20000 a year which he sends ‘into the West Riding of Lancashire every year.’ There is a serious shortage of clog blocks, ‘I had a letter this morning ordering 12000 pairs of blocks.’… ‘I fell all my own timber, and have 1000 cubic feet of wood laid which will go rotten if not worked.’ [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/3409].
