Summary of case: In his appeal to the local tribunal Clegg asked for the removal of the Volunteer Training Corps clause from his exemption certificate as he is already working 16 hours a day and does not have the time to attend drills. The local tribunal considered it was unreasonable to impose the VTC drills on Clegg given his the remoteness of the farm and the distance he would have had to travel to the VTC sessions. The military representative appealed against this decision.
