Summary of case: ‘This man is now, and for some considerable time past has been, employed in agricultural work, viz:- looking after the engine for pumping the water supply for the house, cottages and farm buildings and farm consisting of about 365 acres, and also working on the farm. At the last Tribunal, I was told to train my butler to look after the engine etc., but he has since had to join the Army. The only labour on the farm is the farm foreman, an old man of 65 years of age and a soldier from the Agricultural Company. This man is the only man left who was in our service and has been since the commencement of the War. I expect to have to plough out some of the grass land and it is impossible to carry on the farm without the water supply and necessary labour.’ [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/2553]
