Summary of case: ‘Ill health being totally deaf in right ear and having an offensive discharge from both ears. The man was totally rejected when called up in 1916 and has now been passed C.2. He has been engaged in gardening and his sole occupation during all his working, has been gardening. He has 900 sq. yards which he cultivates himself at night and on Sundays. All the ordinary working hours are spent in Food Production for his employer Robert Stephenson. The man is in a certified occupation and having regard to his age (37) low medical classification and marital condition it is submitted he is better in civil occupation than in the Army.’
