Summary of case: I have felt for considerable time that if it were possible for me to arrange for my practice to be carried on in my absence it would be my duty to serve with the forces. I have endeavoured to make some arrangement of this kind entirely without success until recently when I have concluded arrangements with Mr J.R. Wilkinson, Solicitor of Scarborough to join me in partnership. This, I believe will enable the practice to be carried on and my clientÂ’s affairs will suffer no detriment. It is quite impossible to hand over the complete management of my office to Mr Wilkinson until I have had the opportunity of working with him for some short time, as there are many matters which require my personal attention. I therefore apply for exemption from service for two months as I think I shall in that time have put everything in such order that m Partner can carry on the Practice.- [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/2800]
