Appellant: W Boyce, Major, Military representative
Summary of case: The military representative states it is no longer in the national interest that this man remains in civil life. However, Sharp’s employer, Mr Davison, stated that Sharp was medically unfit but no reason given. Sharpe's work delivering flour to bake houses was considered of national importance and had he been employed in this work on a certain date he would have been entitled to exemption. Although the military representative, Douglas Jamieson, military representative, did not assent to the application, the local tribunal had considered that the work was essential but would withdraw the temporary exemption if the military authorities could provide a replacement. W Boyce appealed on the grounds that that the work was no longer of national importance. [Note: 27 Victoria Street seems to be the address of Sharpe's employer as the address on the application for exemption is 15 Oxford Street]
