It is impossible for this work to be effectively done by female labour. The business is essential to the national interests. 66% of office staff and 50% of mill staff have already joined the forces. The employer states that this man is of more importance as a food producer to his country in his present occupation. The local t tribunal granted conditional exemption until 6 Jul 1916. It was withdrawn stating that he was not to be called up until 20 Sep 1917
