Summary of case: The employer states that this man is of more importance as a food producer to his country in his present occupation. He had been categorised as B3 by the Hull Medical Board. Mr Scotter then appealed against his conscription and found that he was being categorised by the York Tribunal as A. He went to his doctor who provided a certificate and letter concerning his health. The letter states that Mr Scotter has had catarrhal attacks, his left chest is now defective and his breath sounds are abnormal, His left eye is defective both for near and distant vision. He suffers from dyspepsia and is in poor physique, in his opinion he is not fit to undertake arduous military service.
