Military appeal 2 March 1917 stating that the age limit for boot repairers has been raised and that Bell was no longer in a certified occupation. His certificate was withdrawn and temporary exemption was granted to 1 July 1917. Bell appealed again in June 1917 stating serious hardship and was granted temporary exemption to 1January 1918.
