Summary of case: Bell appealed in September 1916 stating he is employed in a certified occupation doing army repairs and granted conditional exemption so long as he remains in present occupation and joins the Volunteer Training Corps. Military appeal 2 March 1917 stating that the age limit for boot repairers has been raised and that Bell was no longer in a certified occupation. His certificate was withdrawn and temporary exemption was granted to 1 July 1917. Bell appealed again in June 1917 stating serious hardship and was granted temporary exemption to 1January 1918. Military representative appealed stating that the length of temporary exemption is too long.
