Summary of case: ‘I submit that my business is one coming within the recent decision of the Central Tribunal as to one man businesses and that I am entitles as a legal right to conditional exemption….All my brothers (three) are in the army. One has been a prisoner in Germany since 1914 and the other two, both of whom joined voluntarily at the beginning of the war, are still on active service….My mother who lives with me cannot possible do this work and should I be compelled to join the army it would mean the ruination of this old established business.’
