Summary of case: Until recently Lee held a certificate of conditional exemption granted on his employer’s application. This was recently reviewed and the certificate withdrawn. He was not aware that he could or ta it was necessary to make application on his own domestic grounds so long as his employers held their certificate…..Domestic reasons – wife suffers severely from Neuritis and is receiving medical attention. Lee contends he is unfit for B1 service as 3 years ago he underwent an operation for rupture. On 7 April 1915 Lee was crushed between a tramcar and an iron girder at the tramways dept., and was taken to the York County Hospital suffering from severely crushed kidneys and other internal injuries. He was in hospital a month and on his discharge was attended for three months by his own doctor. He is unable to do anything but light work, as the slightest exertion causes pain…..Applicant will also produce Doctor’s certificate as to his own condition.’
