Summary of case: The firm have a large military clientele, 14 of their staff have already joined. At this time last year they had six employees of military age. They came before the advisory board and local tribunal conditional exemption granted to three, the other three joining up. The military representative has now reviewed the three who were granted conditional exemptions; two of these were class A and one class B1, obviously an invalid. The local tribunal refused to interfere with the certificate of exemption with the B1 man but withdrew both the class A ones..... Mr Bradshaw has a very delicate wife, she is constantly being attended by Dr Reynolds. He has to support his aged widowed mother. He is a member of the Volunteer Training Corps and is doing more than his share of picquet [sic] and guard duty ....... he is also a special constable. Clerk to local tribunal stated: This man has been passed in category "A" and the local tribunal think his work of insufficient importance to retain him in civil life. The selling of goods could be done by women and the management of the department be placed under the principle or heads of other departments.
