Appellant: Robert Black, employer
Summary of case: Black is applying for further exemption for his employee who is engaged in horse related work. Black had six men working for him all six have gone into the army if this man was taken away Black would have to reduce the number of horses under his control thereby decreasing work of national importance. The employee was examined by Dr Raimes on 4 Nov 1916 and declared not fit for general service he having undergone operations and any exertion would cause very serious rupture. Black contends that as a horseman the employee is in a certified occupation. The employee is 30 years of age is a married man with a wife and three young children dependent on him.
