Summary of case: ‘I have for some time been carting for the hutments for Messrs McAlpines. Now it tis finished I have been asked by Messrs Bell Bros. Ltd. Of Lumpsey Mines Pit to do their carting work and I am fully engaged in doing this, carting timber for pit props. This work is likely to last a long time and there are three pits to keep going, Lumpsey, Carlin Howe and Kilton…..It has taken me some seven years to get together and if I have to go it means selling up everything I have and there is no-one to carry it on.’ [See also NRCC/CL 9/1/4368, NRCC/CL 9/1/4936, NRCC/Cl 9/1/5769]
