Summary of case: My farm is close upon 400 acres, of which nearly 250 acres is ploughing land. I have 25 horses, 22 milk cows, over 40 beasts, and roughly speaking about 100 sheep and 25 pigs. We supply to Redcar in milk each day between 45 and 50 gallons. There are three sons living at home. Before the war I had four able bodied hired men living in the house. I am a widow and my sons are all I have left to carry on the farm. It is a big farm with large responsibilities and they have to work from first thing in the morning to last thing at night to make up for the shortage of labour.
