Summary of case: I am 32 and married and have 3 children. I have been a Butcher on my own account at Ingleby Arncliffe for 9 years and am the only Butcher in the Village. I have also a shop at Osmotherley. There is one other Butcher at this Village and he is a young single man. I am killing on an average 3 beasts in a fortnight and 4 sheep a week. My takings are about £60 a week. The Local Tribunal asked me to work one day a week on the land and this I have done and have got a signed book to this effect. When the war started, I employed a man to help me but he joined up and since then I have done the whole of the work myself. I have a small holding of 4½ aces and keep about 12 cattle and one horse. I have two milk cows and sell the Milk in the Village I shall have about 4 aces in meadow this year.
