The local tribunal gave Walker 6 months temporary exemption having previously looked at this case and that of the anther dentist, George William Fletcher, asking them to consider temporary amalgamation so releasing one for the army. The case had returned as they had been unable to agree to the tribunal's suggestion and they granted Walker temporary exemption for 6 months as he had in business in Thornaby longer and is an older man. The military representative stated that it had been said at the tribunal that one dentist was insufficient but he pointed out the dentists in Stockton could carry out all necessary work and he had appealed for a revision of the two dentists cases under circular R114.
