Summary of case: The local tribunal considered that being 18 years of age, single, and Category A he should be trained for the Army and an older man or a soldier substituted. No application has been made to the Army by the employer for soldiers to assist on the farm. The appeal was on the grounds that he was the only useful man on the farm excepting an Irishman a bad timekeeper absent for two or three days. With 30 dairy cows and seven horses mostly young, he is the only man to be trusted with them. Additionally Ramshaw has 20 acres to plant, corn to sow and land to plough out.
