The military representative appealed against this, stating there were already seven Chemists in Whitby. Case papers include a letter to Tinsdale from Rev. Marquis of Normanby, who is associated with the Mulgrave hospital for wounded soldiers. He states that Tinsdale is invaluable to providing medicines to the hospital and working for the St Johns Ambulance, providing transport for stretcher cases to the hospital.
