Summary of case: The father was an un-naturalised Russian but had lived in England for the last 40 years. Isaac and his brother Phillip had both been called up and Isaac was granted an exemption until 31 Mar 1917. Phillip was not given an exemption but before joining up he was injured in a work accident and discharged unfit for general service because of an injury to his foot. This injury also limited his ability to work as a tailor. Isaac was then called up but passed only fit for Labour Unit abroad not for general service. Phillip and Isaac, along with Barney were the only members of the family who could work, but Barney was to join up on 20 May 1917. Three other siblings had severe health problems and had to be supported by the family. As the father can no longer work, Isaac is needed to support the rest of the family.
